2024 Valencia Conference Updates

Dear MSA Colleagues,

A very happy New Year to you, I hope this finds you safe and well as we start 2024. As the conference in Valencia grows near, we will keep you up to date on hotels and other important information.

HOTELS

In our previous correspondence I advised that you make early hotel reservations because there is a large congress in Valencia at the same time as the MSA Congress. I have recently received a communication from our Congress President Miguel Martinez Lopez who has been monitoring the hotel situation for us. Miguel writes the following:

“I have monitored the evolution of hotel prices during our conference dates and some good 4* hotels, relatively near the conference building, can still be booked at €125-€150 per night: Silken Puerta Valencia, Dimar, and Eurostar Acteon Valencia. The Renasa (3*), a 5-minute walk from our building, is offering an excellent rate €82”. Information on all of these hotels can be found here on the MSA website, mediterraneanstudies.org. I again urge you to act soon and make your reservation. The hotels are refunding deposits until dates very close to the Congress.

POST TOUR

We have organized an exciting post tour that will end in Madrid and includes overnights in Toledo and Chinchón as well as two nights in Madrid. We have hotel rooms available and urge you to register early for the tour if it is your intention to do so. Hotel refund policies for groups have become very draconian since the pandemic in regard to deposit refunds. I will soon need to determine how many hotel rooms I can retain to prevent losing deposits.

These post tours are planned for the membership, and all proceeds from posts tours go to support the emerging MSA Grants Program. So, in joining the tour you are not only rewarding yourself with an excellent educational/travel experience but financially supporting MSA Grants.

Regarding grants we will have some exciting news to offer regarding new grants at the Opening Session in Valencia.

PRE-TOUR

We will also be offering a combination coach/walking tour of Valencia on Tuesday morning before the Opening Session. Complete information on the Post and Pre- Tours can be found on the MSA website www.mediterraneanstudies.org

See you in Valencia,
